Home Remedies for a Toothache

The pain of a toothache is quite severe and can make a person incapable of doing even the most basic tasks like cooking, cleaning, or doing office work. If you are suffering from it and you can’t visit a dentist instantly, you should try home remedies for a toothache mentioned right here.

  • Salt Water

Rinsing your mouth with warm salt water is a simple solution for a toothache. Salt water works as a natural disinfectant and helps get rid of debris and food particles. It can also help in healing oral wounds and lessen inflammation.

  • Cold Compress

You can use cold compress by pressing it gently to the affected area. It will ensure constriction of blood vessels and reduce inflammation and swelling as well.

  • Try Hydrogen Peroxide

Rinsing with hydrogen peroxide is also recommended to reduce pain and inflammation. It will also kill bacteria, diminish plaque and help heal bleeding gums.

  • Tea Bags

You can also soothe sensitive gums and numb pain in the tooth area by using peppermint tea bags. Make sure that the tea bags are slightly warm for maximum benefit. You can also try contrast therapy and use the tea bag chilled and warm one after the other.

  • Go for Garlic

You can also crush a garlic clove, create a paste and apply it directly to the affected area. You can also chew on fresh garlic to get some relief.

  • Vanilla Extract

You can also make use of the antioxidant properties of the vanilla extract to speed up the healing. Just add a bit of vanilla extract to a cotton ball and apply it to the affected area a couple of times a day.

  • Guava Leaves

Chewing on fresh guava leaves is also a smart idea as they have antimicrobial and anti-bacterial properties. If you can’t chew them, you can add them to boiling water and make mouthwash at home.
